Welcome to Armagh Counselling

About Geraldine McCabe - Founder of Armagh Counselling

Geraldine McCabe is an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals through trauma, grief, and emotional distress. An accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Geraldine brings both professional expertise and personal insight to her work.

Having lived experience of the Magdalene Sisters system, Geraldine is uniquely positioned to offer compassionate, specialist care to others affected by institutional trauma. Her professional journey includes key roles with PIPS, SoSad, SHIP, SRC, EAP the Simon Community, and the Samaritans, as well as extensive CPD in suicide prevention, adolescent psychotherapy, and mental health support. Her approach is rooted in Humanistic Integrative Therapy, creating a person-centred space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Why Choose Armagh Counselling?

  • Specialist  support for self-harm, suicide ideation, and institutional trauma
  • Professional  qualifications and lived experience - Geraldine is accredited with IACP and BACP in both Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Confidential, one-to-one sessions in a calm and supportive setting
  • Based in Armagh and available for in-person and remote sessions

Geraldine believes in the strength and resilience of every individual. Her mission is to walk alongside you as you rediscover your worth, rebuild your identity, and reclaim your peace.

What’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy? Counselling focuses on current issues and coping strategies, while psychotherapy explores deeper emotional patterns and past experiences. At Armagh Counselling, both approaches are used to suit your individual needs.
