Welcome to Armagh Counselling Psychotherapy

1. SHIP – Self-Harming Intervention Programme

We offer a dedicated therapeutic pathway for individuals currently self-harming. While many are directed to the CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) programme, our SHIP (Self-Harm Intervention Programme) approach goes further — addressing the root causes of self-harm through ongoing, compassionate therapy designed to restore hope and build lasting coping strategies.

Who it’s for:

  • Individuals currently self-harming
  • Parents and carers seeking support for loved ones
  • Adolescents and adults

2. Adoption & Magdalene Survivors Support

Geraldine’s own experience of institutionalisation informs this deeply personal and powerful service. We offer safe space therapy for those navigating complex trauma, identity issues, abandonment, and generational shame associated with adoption or religious institutional abuse.

Who it’s for:

  • Adults who were adopted or placed in religious institutions
  • Survivors of the Magdalene Sisters home or similar environments
  • Those carrying intergenerational trauma

3. Suicide Ideation & Bereavement Counselling

We work with individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts, those who have attempted suicide, and people grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide. Through evidence-based practices like ASIST and STORM, we offer calm, grounded support to help you process pain and find purpose again.

Who it’s for:

  • Individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts or behaviours
  • Families affected by suicide
  • People experiencing complicated grief or trauma

Additional Support Includes:

  • Adolescent counselling
  • Support for carers and foster families
  • Trauma-informed therapy
  • Self-esteem and confidence building
  • Relationship/trans-gender support
  • Work relate/emotional issues
  • Isolation and health anxiety

Sessions are confidential, non-judgemental, and delivered in a supportive environment in Armagh or online.
